About Us
Andrea
Andrea Thorpe studied Jewellery and Silversmithing at the Birmingham School of Jewellery. She is self-employed designing and making her own collections of contemporary jewellery whilst teaching part-time at Leamington College part of the WCG Group.
Andrea has developed good industrial links over the years, working with Delcam, Birmingham developing CAD CAM work. Winning first prize in a competition to design a solitaire engagement ring for Domino, a jewellery manufacturer in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter, lead her to working for a number of years as a model maker for a casting company.
Amongst her accolades, whilst at university Andrea’s designs were chosen and bought by the Goldsmiths Retail chain and formed part of their ‘White Fire collection’ (silver and diamonds). Initially, they were sold in 170+ stores throughout the UK.
Andrea continues to work and develop her collections by creating new ranges and undertaking commissioned work.
Michelle
Michelle Wood is a jewellery designer-maker living and working in Leamington Spa. She studied an HND in Jewellery and Silversmithing at ‘The Cass’ School of Art, London before continuing onto a degree course at The School of Jewellery, Birmingham, achieving a BA (Hons).
Soon after graduating set up her own jewellery studio whilst teaching at WCG, then known as Mid-Warwickshire College.
Michelle produces her own collections as well as bespoke commission pieces using precious metals and gemstones.
Using clean lines whilst transforming simple, geometric shapes into tactile, three-dimensional forms that work with the body; Michelle likes to incorporate movement into her work – with a fascination of mechanisms she designs and makes pieces that the wearer can interact with.
